Benjamin Delale

Artistic direction & Organ

Benjamin has been fascinated by keyboard instruments (harpsichord, piano, organ, clavichord, fortepiano) since the age of six. He bases his playing on a rigorous analysis of the repertoire, a keen sense of musical rhetoric, and his daily practice of improvisation. After a degree in mathematics and a postgraduate diploma in piano, he opted for the early keyboards, which he studied at the conservatoires of Caen and Boulogne-Billancourt with Bibiane Lapointe, Thierry Maeder and Frédéric Michel. He then went on to obtain a bachelor's degree from the Pôle Supérieur de Paris, followed by a master's degree from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Lyon.

He is currently a doctoral student in harpsichord and musicology in Lyon, conducting theoretical research into experimental vocal music of the Renaissance. At the same time, in 2022, he obtained a degree in music pedagogy and teaches harpsichord at several conservatoires in Lyon.

Benjamin performs regularly in solo recitals, orchestral concerts (Notre-Dame de Paris with Philippe Pierlot, APAS festival in Grignan, Chapelle Royale at the Château de Versailles, etc.) and chamber music concerts (Printemps de Lanvellec, Festival des Lumières, Mars en Baroque, etc.). He has benefited from the advice of harpsichordists such as Ton Koopman, Pierre Hantaï, Andreas Staier and Blandine Verlet, musicologists Olivier Fourès and Peter Wollny, and composers Tôn Thât Thiet and Benjamin Attahir.
