Pauline Chiama

Viola da gamba

Fascinated by the sound of the viol from the age of 7, Pauline entered the Paris CRR in 2006, where she continued her studies with Ariane Maurette and Guido Balestracci. After an Erasmus in Berlin as part of a Master's degree in history, she joined Marianne Muller's class at the CNSMD in Lyon, graduating in June 2021.

She then returned to the CNSMD for an Artist Diploma, during which she created Funambules, a one-woman musical theatre show combining old and new repertoires, electronic equipment and literature.

A member of the orchestra La Sourde and the ensembles La Camerata Chromatica, Les Fâcheuses and Du Souffle à l'Archet, Pauline also teaches viola da gamba at the CRR in Grenoble. A versatile artist, she is happy to put her musical and stage skills to work on cross-disciplinary projects that take her off the beaten track.
